A Different Drum Update - July 18th, 2011

Hello once again from A Different Drum.   Several interesting new releases have arrived in the store this week.  Let’s take a look…

NEW ARRIVALS:

Endless Shame “Generation Blind” $20 — This is the new studio album from a very exciting synthpop act that has been making a splash.  Their high-energy approach and intensity make them instantly catchy and danceable.  This new album is released on a new label out of Italy, and it’s very much worth adding to your collection.  Watch a music video for one of the songs, and order the new CD here :

Vision Talk “Distances” $20 — Their first two albums have been very popular sellers with fans of traditional synthpop (the first has been sold-out for a while now).  This new album once again presents their retro-flavored sound with catchy tunes and bouncy synths, including some fun remix bonus tracks.  Order the new CD here :

Restricted Area “Core Excess” $26 — If you’ve been following hard-edged synthpop and EBM for years and have been a customer of A Different Drum, you’ve probably heard of Restricted Area before.  They blend synthpop and old-school EBM with the Nitzer Ebb-style danceable energy.   Every few years they re-emerge with new material.  This import features two CD’s (”Core Excess” and “Underdog”) which continue to present their hard-hitting sound.  Check out a video and order the CD here :

Head-less “Imperfect Mensch” $20 — This is another underground synthpop / EBM band from Germany that never goes away.  Every few years they are back with more German-style, dark synthpop and futurepop.   You can pick up their new CD right here :

System “Circle of Infinite Radius” $20 — This Swedish synthpop act follows the early roots of Kraftwerk, with very robotic sounds and analog synthesizer textures.   This is the latest album for those who want pure, old-school, yet futuristic electronics.   Order the new CD here :

I’ve been pretty busy this summer with my other job which has been giving me a lot of work hours, so I’m a bit slower shipping orders the last couple of weeks.  But I’ll stay on top of it and appreciate every order that comes through.  It helps keep this little piece of the independent music world alive and kicking just a bit longer.
I haven’t had a chance to update the radio player with tracks from these new releases yet, but I will this week, so stay tuned.

Thanks!

A Different Drum Update - July 8th, 2011

Hello friends of A Different Drum!   It’s time for another new music update.  Here is what rolled into the store this week…

NEW ARRIVALS:

Endless Shame “Halo” (limited edition CDR single) $11 — This is a limited edition CDR release of the latest single by Endless Shame.  There are four tracks, including three versions of the title track and a bonus, packaged in a full color sleeve.  You can listen to the title track and order the limited edition here :

Distain “On / Off” $20 — Back with a new album, which would be their 6th studio album, this German synthpop act is a regular fixture in the scene.  Check out the video for one of the two German-language tracks on the album and order the CD here :

Hidden Place “Weather Station Early Works” $16 — This CD features some early tracks from the atmospheric synthpop band Hidden Place, with airy female vocals combined with a gothic-tinged male vocalist, and a somewhat darkwave approach, they tend to appeal to fans of different tastes.  This collection is a bit more experimental than their newer material.  Order the CD here :

Hyperbubble “Drastic Cinematic” $12 — This latest album from the analog-synthesize act that specializes in bouncy tunes now takes a slightly different turn.  The synths are still the highlight, but this one is less pop-oriented and plays like a robot-infested, instrumental, electronic movie soundtrack for a B-movie sci-fi film.  It’s actually pretty fun.   Order the CD here :

Various Artists “Depeche Mode Tributo Argentino Vol. 1″ $16 — Of course, this scene is long overrun with Depeche Mode tributes, but they keep coming.  Here is one from Argentina featuring all electronic underground bands from that country.  It is an interesting one, including a Spanish language version of Route 66, no less.  Order the CD here :

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for your support and friendship!
